Recharged Heritage was born from a passion for Mini's history and a great appreciation for the future. By combining one of the most iconic automotive designs of all time, with state-of-the-art technology to give the classic Mini an opportunity to remain relevant for today and tomorrow.
The team has developed a truly innovative package that captures the essence of Mini and without compromise to drivability, quality, reliability and safety.
A Recharged car is one that can therefore live on and continue to be enjoyed, allowing its story to continue for many years to come.
The conversion of classic Minis to an electric drive combines traditional values with future-oriented technology. To experience the traditional go-kart handling with an emission-free drivetrain, the original petrol engine of the classic Mini is replaced by a modern electric drive. Only reversible changes are made to the substance of the vehicle during the conversion as part of MINI Recharged.

If Alec Issigonis could design the classic Mini again today, the iconic small car would have an electric motor. After all, the original launched in 1959 was created during an oil crisis and based on the idea of saving fuel and transporting four occupants and their luggage in the smallest possible footprint.
To this day, MINI remains linked to the principles of designer Issigonis with its creative use of space and driving fun. The MINI Recharged project is an opportunity to continue telling the story of the classic Mini in the 21st century, in a sustainable way.

The MINI Recharged Heritage up-cycling project is where tradition meets the future, reinventing the classic petrol models in to all-electric future. As a new MINI partner, engineers from ‘Recharged Heritage Limited’ are responsible for making this dream a reality and converting the classic Mini into a modern emission-free vehicle. The fully electric model, celebrates the fusion of tradition with pioneering technology.
The project is also about respecting heritage and timeless design – in particular, the iconic work of Sir Alec Issigonis, creator of the first Mini. The engineer developed the classic Mini as a response to the oil crisis of 1959. Minimum fuel consumption, maximum use of space – that was the concept. In times of climate and energy crisis, this concept is much more relevant. Up-cycling, the current megatrend, now for classic Minis too.
